Back to Beauty: Film, Flowers, and Finding My Way Again
The last two weeks have been hard creatively.
After a triggering day, I didn’t feel like posting, sharing, or even picking up my camera some days (I still did though). I knew it would pass—and slowly, it is.
I’m beginning to feel like myself again. I’m noticing inspiration, words, light, and beauty. I want to create and share again. That feels like a small victory.
A Shift with the Weather
The weather has turned, and that’s helped. It’s warm, leaning toward summer, and everything is blooming.
My balcony garden is thriving. The flowers are full, the leaves are lush, and I’m soaking in every bit of it while I can.
This season of green is always too short. Soon enough, the heat will dry things out, and the flowers will fade. I’m praying this year brings a good balance of sunshine and rain—both needed in their own way.
My camera has certainly been enjoying it all.
Two Rolls of Beauty
I’ve recently gotten back two rolls of film, and both feel special in their own way.
The first—my most recent roll from my Nikon FM10—might be my favorite yet. Almost every frame turned out beautifully. It felt like something clicked this time, and I can’t wait to share those images with you.
The second was more sentimental—a black and white roll from my Canon Elan 7, a camera that unfortunately no longer works. I shot that roll years ago and it just sat there, undeveloped, waiting.
The photos are imperfect, grainy, soft. But there’s beauty in that too. In what’s been waiting quietly all this time.
“Sometimes beauty comes back to us slowly—through blooming flowers, finished rolls, and a willingness to begin again.”
These days I’m easing my way back into creativity—one image, one walk, one word at a time.
Have you had a season like this too, where inspiration fades for a while, only to return quietly when you least expect it?
