A Friendship Day in Piešťany: Slow Conversations, Good Food, and God’s Grace

I’m so thankful that God gave us friendships.

I’m very much a friendship-centered kind of woman—my heart is deeply rooted in relationships. And while that can sometimes get messy, I’ve come to believe that it’s through the mess that God often does his most meaningful work.

A Day with Petronela

Yesterday, I had the chance to spend time with my beautiful friend Petronela. It had been a while since we had a proper hangout, just the two of us, so the day felt like a real treat.

Unfortunately, I came to work with a toothache that turned into a headache—one that refused to go away no matter what painkillers I tried. But I still chose to meet with her, and I’m so glad I did. It was the right decision.

Back to Piešťany

We knew the weather would be beautiful, so we decided to go to Piešťany, a spa town filled with charm and personal memories.

My family and I lived there for a couple of years, so every visit back is wrapped in nostalgia.

We didn’t do a lot of picture taking or exploring this time—but we did talk. A lot. And honestly, that was the best part of the day: just being present with each other and having space to process life together.

The Sweetest Spots

We had lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, La Musica. It has a beautiful terrace and always plays the best music—it’s one of those places that feels like a vibe all on its own.

Afterward, we stopped at Mona Lisa, which in my opinion has the best ice cream in town. If you ever find yourself in Piešťany, you must go there.

The Ups and Downs of Real Friendship

I’m not going to pretend that all relationships are easy.

Petronela and I have had our share of ups and downs, moments of ease and moments that required grace. But I’m grateful for all of it, because I’ve seen God use both the beautiful and the hard to shape us more into His image.

I prefer friendships that are deep and meaningful—and I’m thankful that God has blessed me with a few of those rare kinds.

Even though I wasn’t at my best, I’m thankful for yesterday. For time with a dear friend, for memories in a familiar town, and for the kind of conversations that stay with you.

What kind of friendship moments are you treasuring right now?
