Saturday with Friends

I have a goal today: to stay off social media this weekend. That means no browsing and no posting today. I’ll post tomorrow since we’re heading to Banská Štiavnica, but most of my sharing will happen here.
It’s really nice to have this space—to write down my thoughts, remember the day, express what I’m feeling, and keep the photos I take. Most of the time, my pictures sit on my computer, rarely looked at. But when they’re here on the blog, I tend to revisit them. It’s also something I can enjoy scrolling through with my family.
So that’s the goal for today and the weekend: less noise, more presence.
This morning I have snowdrop plans with Petronela, then lunch with Sasha while the men are at a floorball game. I can’t attend because I’m not Covid vaccinated, so on game days I like to spend time with friends instead of staying home alone. Anyway, I need to get ready and go.
One thing I learned today: prayer is more powerful than words. It’s something I haven’t yet matured in and really want to grow. I need to pray—when I talk with friends, when I talk with my husband, and when I process what’s on my heart. It’s such a simple thing, yet somehow the last thing I do. I reach for my words first. But people don’t always need my words.
It’s amazing what God teaches when we give Him the space to speak. I’ve learned so much today, but applying what I’ve learned—that’s what matters now.
The time with both Petronela and Sasha was beautiful and good, each in their own way. I’m so grateful for their friendships. I remember living in Piešťany and praying for friends. It was a lonely season. My life is so different now—it almost feels like I was a different version of myself back then. I might have more to say on that someday.
But for now, I’m home after a long, good day, and words don’t flow as easily in the evening as they do in the morning. Last thought: I stayed off social media today, and it was such a good thing.
Tomorrow, Banská Štiavnica awaits.
