The Funeral
The funeral was beautiful. It was heartbreaking, but the place was filled with love, love my brother couldn’t have had for himself. That breaks me because he had so much to love about him, and his illness hid that from him.
There were moments that I will remember forever, like when I felt him smile at me. At the end of the funeral, he did have a smile. He’s happy where he is, in Heaven.
I had so much help setting up, and I thank every single person who gave a helping hand. The lunch was also wonderful. God worked out all of our plans, and they turned out even better than we had planned. It was a beautiful and heartbreaking day.
By the end, I had a big headache, and I just needed rest. Unlike in Slovakia, I did take pictures of my brother and my mother saying farewell to him. My older brother held it together and stayed strong, but he was holding a lot in.
Now we bury his body on Monday. I am thankful for that break and that we didn’t plan it all in one day.
