Ladies and gentlemen, it is officially fall! While my heart still longs for the warmth of summer, my hands are fully embracing the season, craving the feel of yarn and the rhythm of knitting needles. I can always tell when fall arrives because I’ve already started three new yarn projects! One is a cozy sweater for one of my dearest friends, another is a cardigan currently on my needles, and today, I’m embarking on a beautiful test knit—a sweater vest that combines both crochet and knitting techniques.

Out of all these projects, I’m most excited about the sweater vest (and no offense to your sweater, Petronela, but you get to keep that one, not me!). This new project is made up of granny squares, and the yarn I’m using is extra special—it’s a local Slovak yarn Mokoša made by a talented fiber friend of mine. I’ve been eager to try this yarn for some time now, and I absolutely love supporting local makers, knowing firsthand how important that support is. Speaking of which, I’m off to pick up the yarn right now!

I’m back from my yarn run! I ordered from a lovely friend who runs an online shop, 2sheeps.com. She offers the most incredible yarns, and just browsing through her collection is pure joy. While I was there, I couldn’t resist grabbing a few more goodies: a couple of gorgeous leather bags and, of course, three additional skeins of yarn. The yarn I picked for the sweater vest is simply perfect, and I can’t wait to get home and dive into the project. It’s the ideal day for some tea, crochet, and creativity. Oh, and I have to mention—Katarína, the owner of 2sheeps.com, is the absolute sweetest! She’s been so kind to me every time I’ve visited her shop, and she’s also started a fantastic community initiative. I’ll link the project here—it’s especially meaningful if you’re Slovak, and it’s such a wonderful cause!

I’ve now had a few hours with this new yarn, and I have to say—I’m in love. I usually go back and forth between loving soft and coarse yarns, and this particular yarn leans towards the coarser side. It’s perfect for the Agnes Sweater Vest by Bethany I’m working on. Honestly, I’m beyond excited to add this piece to my wardrobe. I’ll be sharing a separate post all about the test knit once I’ve finished it, so stay tuned!
